Procedure to follow before selection:
- First you identify the program which is the most suitable for you (link)
- Some schools care more about Quant and others care more about Verbal. Talk to the admissions committee, alumni, and current students.

Note! GRE gives two independent grades for Quant and Verbal and GMAT a whole overall grade;
So, if you are particularly good at one of the two parts you can promote that in your application by taking GRE.

CHOICE ACCORDING TO SKILLS
- If you have very strong math skills, but feel that your English skills (particularly vocabulary) are weaker, consider taking the GMAT.
- If you have very strong English skills (particularly if your vocabulary is stronger than your grammar knowledge), but feel less confident in math, consider taking the GRE.
- If your verbal and math skills are about equal, consider taking the GRE.
- If you are applying to a program focusing specifically on your Quantitative or Verbal scores (such as Engineering), consider taking the GRE

- The AWA scores do not affect all other scores
- You can take the test only once every 16 days for the GMAT and once every 21 days for the GRE (up to 5 times a year)
